The word is out; one of the internet’s oldest online casino sites is back in business. PokerRoom announced a couple of weeks ago that they will again be offering poker cash games online. This announcement follows weeks of rumors and speculations among the industry.
The first rumor came from bwin SEO, Josef Rantamaki, when he tweeted that PokerRoom was coming back. This comment was quickly taken back, simply stating that Rantamaki spoke too soon. After that, there were hints here and there that the site was coming back, but nothing was official until now.
What will be interesting to see is if PokerRoom can make a name for itself once again and reach the success that it once had. As one of the first sites to offer real money poker, PokerRoom, which opened in 1999, made waves in the online poker playing world.
When online poker playing was at its all time high, PokerRoom was at the forefront with its new software development as well as being known as one of the most reputable sites around. PokerRoom was actually the first site to receive the ECogra seal of approval.
Whether or not it’s a good time to enter the poker playing market is up for debate. It might work out just fine for PokerRoom. For now, they will have to limit their market to the European, Canadian and other non-U.S. markets.
